DWE is participating in the School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge from now until April 3rd and we need your help! Bring your clean plastic bags to school and help us collect as many as possible. The more we collect, the bigger difference we make for our environment and the more our school can earn in rewards!

Before turning in your bags, count how many you have and label your bag with the total. This will help our PTA keep track of our progress. Thanks in advance for your support!

Congratulations to the Deerwood Chess Team! Our talented players earned a 2nd Place School Team Trophy at the 2026 Texas Lone Star Scholastic Chess Championship. In addition, one team member won an individual 5th place trophy and all DWE participants won individual medals in the tournament. We could not be prouder of their hard work and sportsmanship. Way to represent Deerwood Chess Team!

All 2026-2027 kindergarten students and their parents are invited to attend Deerwood's KG Round Up on Tuesday, 4/14 at 5:00 pm. Registration information will be presented and students will have the opportunity to see a kindergarten classroom, ride a school bus and have a snack in the Deerwood cafeteria.

We are excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming Science Circus Open House! The evening will begin at 5:00 PM in your child’s classroom, where families will participate together in a fun, hands-on science experiment. After exploring the classroom activity, you are welcome to continue the excitement by visiting the Art Room, the Multipurpose Room, and the Pavilion for additional interactive science experiences. The Book Fair will also be open during the event, giving families an opportunity to browse and purchase books while supporting our school. A general PTA meeting will begin at 5:45 in the cafeteria. At 6:30 PM, all science activities will conclude, and we invite everyone to attend a special 5th grade performance in the cafeteria to wrap up this exciting night of learning and celebration. We look forward to seeing you there for a memorable evening of science and community!

It’s a day full of excitement, and we would love to see our school community there, showing their support and celebrating the love of reading!
