1st loved reading our Flyleaf books to decode our digraphs we’re learning in our phonics lessons!

2nd grade has been learning how to identify cause and effect

In 3rd, we explored several methods for calculating elapsed time. In science, we practiced separating mixtures. In reading, we learned about point of view and how character relationships can impact a story. In writing, we practiced how to write an effective answer to a question.

Students in PE practiced their underhanded rolling skills as they collected "pumpkins" in the Centennial Elementary Pumpkin Patch. Not only did students utilize their rolling skills, but they also demonstrated teamwork, patience and perseverance. Proud of our Bulldogs!

Fabulous Firsties are having so much fun learning when to use double consonants at the end of words (the Floss Rule) in Phonics lessons! We loved celebrating National Bring Your Teddy Bear to School Day!

Kinder reads “Room on the Broom” and practiced re-telling what the witch put in her cauldron! Then these kindergarteners got to go outside and find 5 ingredients for their own magic potion and wrote about the whole adventure in their journals!

4th graders participated in engaging activities such as finding supporting details in an article about Alebrijes to determine the central idea in RELA.

It's National Principal's Month and Humble ISD is highlighting our very own Mr. Michael Bushnell! Thank You Mr. B for all you do for the CE Community! #ThankAPrincipal #ShineALight #SendItOn

2nd Grade students are measuring the perimeter of the paper and finding different ways to count the unifix cubes instead of counting one by one. Ex: counting by 2s,5s, and 10s.

The Fabulous Firsties had another great week of learning! We began blends in phonics to further our reading skills and also had a BLAST making pancakes to enhance our "how to" (procedural) writing! What a great week to be in first grade! =)

4th graders have really been enjoying researching their favorite animal's structures and functions this week! Expect some cool facts coming your way. In RELA, students have been working independently on identifying the claim and evidence in argumentative texts.

Fifth-graders had a great time going through the writing process to write a personal narrative. They brainstormed, drafted, revised, and edited to get to their final drafts. The students then had the opportunity to read their peers' papers and leave a positive note! They enjoyed taking ownership of their work and taking pride in a finished product!

In the Science Lab, we are learning what happens to matter when we add or remove heat. We have had a blast melting, evaporating and condensing matter.

This week our fabulous firsties learned about the vowel, e, and reviewed all the short sounds that vowels make. They explored addition strategies within 10 and were introduced to “how to” writings by learning how to make a quesadilla! We kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by writing and eating! Yum! It’s always a great day to learn in first grade! 🥰

Math: This week we continued working on multiplication, working on story problems and relationship tables. Next week, we'll dive into place value. Our first graders reviewed vowels a,i.o and introduced u. Students are learning how to use these vowels to make, read, and write cvc words. We love phonics in first grade! We also dove into asking vs telling sentences. When do you use a period vs a question mark? Math was a blast while we explored decomposing numbers--

Students in 5th grade are studying adaptations and realizing how important our thumbs are! Try picking up something without using your thumbs. Is it easy? Why is it challenging? What other adaptations do we use on a daily basis?

4th grade has been working in emphasizing the setting in student written dramas in RELA. In math, we started division and we've been enjoying it as we make connections to multiplication.
