Humble ISD will be closed on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Harris County has asked multiple communities in our school district to evacuate. As you know, heavy rainfall caused Lake Conroe, Lake Livingston, Lake Houston, both the East and West Forks of the San Jacinto River, and other creeks to rise. Additionally, authorities are planning a massive release of water from both Lake Conroe and Lake Livingston, which will bring the East and the West forks of the San Jacinto River to major flood stages – impacting many of our staff, students, families, and community members.

While we had planned to wait for a weather and flooding update from Houston Flood Control tonigh, inundation maps have made any predicted rainfall for tomorrow morning moot. The release of Lakes Livingston and Conroe will give us more water than we can safely handle, so there will be no school Friday, May 3, 2024.

Our 2023-2024 academic calendar included ample state-required instructional minutes to accommodate such a weather-related closure, eliminating the need for a make-up day.

We will be having a pep rally tomorrow to close out the school year. This is an event for students to celebrate all the hard work they have put in to this school year, and is not open to the public. We ask that students wear their Grove color or shirt tomorrow, your child knows which Grove they are in:

Oak - Red

Elm - Orange

Spruce - Yellow

Magnolia - Green

Willow - Blue

Pine - Black

Below are important points about the picnics:

• You may start checking in at Insperity 20 minutes before picnic time (except for Kindergarten who will enjoy a presentation in the gym before the picnic at Insperity).




• You will receive a check-in sticker when you check in.




• Students will be allowed 2 adult guests and any pre-school siblings. School-aged children are not allowed to attend a sibling's picnic.




• All guests need to be listed as guardians or contacts for the child in Home Access Center. For assistance with this contact Groves Front Office (geoffice@humbleisd.net). The legal name that is listed on the driver's license must be the listed name in Home Access Center with a contact phone number as well as used on this guest form.




• If you are checking out your student after the picnic, you will check out with the classroom teacher before leaving Insperity.




• Siblings in other grades can be checked out at the front office.




• Students that are checked out from Groves Elementary are not allowed to attend a sibling's spring picnic.

PTO has also secured autograph pages for students! For students who have purchased a yearbook, these pages can be quickly inserted into their yearbook once received. For those who do not secure a yearbook, the students still have message memories from their classmates. These pages will be provided to the students from PTO, no purchase required. 

The pre-registration form will close on Friday, May 10 at 8:00pm.
