During the 2026β2027 school year, students will take MAP Growth and/or mCLASS assessments three times. They help teachers understand your childβs current skills, monitor growth, and plan appropriate instruction and support.
MAP Growth
Who takes it? | Reading: Grades 2β5 | Math: Grades Kβ5 |
How does it work? | MAP Growth is an untimed, computer-based assessment that typically takes 45β60 minutes. It adjusts to your childβs responsesβquestions become more or less challenging based on their answers. |
What does it measure? |

mCLASS Reading/Lectura
Who takes it? | Reading: Grades Kβ1 |
How does it work? | mCLASS is a brief reading assessment administered individually by a teacher. Students may read aloud, identify letters and sounds, and answer questions. The full assessment typically takes 4β8 minutes. |
What does it measure? | mCLASS measures foundational reading skills, including:

Your Childβs Results - Two weeks after each assessment window, your childβs MAP and/or mCLASS Student Progress Report will be available in HAC.
The report will include information about your childβs:
Current performance compared with grade-level expectations
Growth over time
Strengths in specific reading or math skills
Skills that may require additional instruction or support
Please Note: Dashes on your childβs report indicate that the assessment was not taken and/or completed.
Teachers will use these results along with classroom work and other information to make instructional decisions. No single assessment provides a complete picture of your childβs learning.
