The Awesomesaucers Destination Imagination (DI) Team, an independent middle school service-learning group, has advanced to the DI Global Finals, set for May 21β24, 2026, in Kansas City.
DI is a global STEAM program that promotes creativity, collaboration and innovation while encouraging students to make a positive impact in their communities.
The team includes seven students from four Humble ISD campuses competing in a challenge centered on pet rescue and animal welfare. Their project is developed in partnership with Paw Pact Rescue.

The Awesomesaucersβ project raises awareness about the homeless pet crisis in the Lake Houston area. Their efforts include translating 60 pet profiles into Spanish to improve adoption accessibility, collecting pet food, supporting adoption initiatives and generating more than 10,000 social media views.
The team competed at the Destination Imagination Lone Star Finals, placing in the top 6 teams and earning a spot at the Global Finals. Their performance reflects both competitive success and a strong commitment to service, leadership and real-world impact.
