On Thursday, students and community members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Nest-themed playground at Autumn Creek Elementary. The dedication ceremony featured remarks from Principal Lisa Newcomb; student performances by the Honor Choir and Drama Club; and student reflections on what the new playground means to them.
This new playground marks the 22nd installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the fourth unveiled during the 2025-2026 school year. The playground was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
A Closer Look at Autumn Creek Elementary's New Playground
Designed for children ages 5-12, the playground expansion brings nature-inspired adventure to the Blue Jays! Building on the excitement of the original Hedra® play structure and swings installed in 2021, the expanded playground now offers students even more ways to climb, explore, and play.
The new play area includes a three-story structure that invites kids to reach new heights with an accessible route to the very top and includes five thrilling slides to return back down to the surface!
A mix of activity panels, spinners, and swings extends the fun throughout the whole play space. Seamless poured-in-place safety surfacing ensures accessibility for children of all abilities and features waterfront-themed designs, including a cabin, canoes, and more, incorporating nature at every step.
