Humble ISD will celebrate Gifted and Talented (G/T) Awareness Week April 6–10, 2026, highlighting the district's commitment to support advanced learners and strengthen student success.

Observed statewide during the first full week of April, G/T Awareness Week promotes understanding of and advocacy for gifted education and the unique needs of advanced learners. The recognition was established through the passage of HCR 64 (Curry and Parker), a resolution advocated by the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented.

At the elementary level, Humble ISD focuses on early identification and support, with each campus guided by a G/T lead who supports programming, differentiated instruction and enriched learning environments that foster critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving.

β€œIn our elementary G/T program, we believe potential should be recognized early and nurtured intentionally,” Advanced Learning Coordinator for Elementary Schools Dr. Jennifer Williams said. β€œBy creating engaging learning experiences and expanding opportunities for all students, we are building a strong foundation for future growth and success.”

At the middle school level, the district is strengthening systems to better support students, families and campuses. Expanded G/T liaison roles improve communication and ensure consistent services, while a district advisory committee of parents, administrators and counselors provides feedback aligned with the Texas State Plan for G/T Education.

Select campuses are also piloting a sixth-grade G/T advisory class, giving students opportunities to collaborate and reflect on their learning while elevating student voice.

β€œAs we continue to grow our middle school G/T program, we are focused on building intentional systems that support both student outcomes and program fidelity,” Advanced Learning Coordinator for Middle Schools Jennifer Holloway said. β€œThrough our campus liaisons, advisory structures and student-centered opportunities, we are creating more connected, responsive and meaningful experiences for our G/T students.”
