FOOD DRIVE

ANNUAL FOOD & HYGIENE PRODUCTS DONATION DRIVE

OPERATION: FILL THE BAND TRAILER!

As we officially kick off the Fall and Thanksgiving holiday season, we at Riverwood are filled with gratitude for the wonderful year ahead. Just as we have done in years past, we’re excited to extend a helping hand to those in need within the Lake Houston/Humble area. This year, we are once again partnering with Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) for our annual Food and Hygiene Drive.

HAAM is an interfaith organization dedicated to assisting community residents in crisis by providing essential resources that help them move toward self-sufficiency. Their services are vital to many families in our community, especially during the holiday season.

This year, we’re setting an exciting new goal — let’s fill the entire Riverwood Band trailer with donations for HAAM! Every can, box, or bottle adds up, and with everyone’s participation, we can make a huge impact for local families in need. Let’s show the power of our Riverwood Band community and overflow that trailer with kindness and generosity!

Food and hygiene items will be collected each morning before school in the front vestibule. When students drop off their items, they’ll let us know who their 4th period teacher is so their class can earn credit toward the friendly competition. The Fine Arts Department is leading the collection, and Student Council will reward the classes that gather the most donations!

To make things even more exciting, here’s what our top three classes will win:

🥇 1st Place: Pizza, popcorn, and popsicles party

🥈 2nd Place: Popcorn and popsicles party

🥉 3rd Place: Popcorn party

Our first collection will take place Friday, October 31, and we will continue collecting on November 7, November 14, and November 21.

To keep things organized and engaging, each week of our 4-week drive will have a special theme:

🗓 WEEK 1 – “Fill the Pantry” (Friday, October 31)

Canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats (tuna, chicken, chili), pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, and jelly.

🗓 WEEK 2 – “Clean & Care” (Friday, November 7)

Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine products, toilet paper, and laundry detergent.

🗓 WEEK 3 – “Little Ones, Big Needs” (Friday, November 14)

Diapers (all sizes), wipes, baby shampoo, lotion, formula, baby food, and toddler snacks.

🗓 WEEK 4 – “Comfort & Warmth” (Friday, November 21)

Canned soups, chili, boxed mac & cheese, instant potatoes, granola bars, crackers, and hot chocolate or tea bags.

Your generosity and participation truly make a difference for families in need. Thank you for helping us bring comfort and hope to our neighbors this season. If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email.

Let’s work together to make this year’s drive our biggest yet — and fill that band trailer to the top with donations for HAAM!

Warm regards,

Michael Burleson
