On Wednesday, students and community members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Treasure Island-themed playground at Pine Forest Elementary School. The dedication ceremony featured remarks from Principal Wendy Anaya, performances of “I Choose” and “Play Another Happy Song” by Pine Forest’s Panther Honor Choir, reflections from second-grade students, and a bilingual poem reading by fifth grade Spanish Immersion students.
Pine Forest Elementary is the first campus to unveil a new playground during the 2025-2026 school year. This marks the 19th new playground completed in Humble ISD.
A Closer Look at Pine Forest Elementary’s New Playground
Pine Forest Elementary’s sea-inspired playground features a massive pirate ship, a giant octopus with climbing challenges and slides, as well as a sculpted treasure chest, log steppers, climbers, spinners, sensory panels, swings and playful sea creatures throughout.
The playground’s seamless, poured-in-place surfacing makes it accessible to children of all abilities, while enhancing the theme with elements such as sharks, squidLone Star , a “message in a bottle,” and a treasure island marked with an “X.”
Designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas, the playground is open to the public outside of school hours.
