Senior Maya Ortiz was named 1st runner-up in the TAJE Texas High School Journalist of the Year competition. She created a portfolio of her four years of award-winning work. She is currently the editor-in-chief of the Kingwood Park Times.


The band performed at the final pep rally of the year on Feb. 23.


More than 50 NHS students participated in a district-wide leadership conference on Feb. 29. The group combined with NHS students from other high schools to practice and learn leadership skills.


Cheer tryouts are nearing! They will be held March 5-8.


In a battle for bragging rights, a boys volleyball tournament was held between every grade level on Thursday night. The freshmen won the competition and battled the teachers in a pep rally on Friday. The teachers narrowly won.

Congratulations to senior Lucas Early who finished 5th in the 5A Wrestling State Championships in the 106 pound division. Early also ended his career with 48 wins, which is a new record in a single season for the boys program.


The baseball team took on Atascocita in a scrimmage on Friday night.


Advanced biology teacher Kristen Lynam had her students outside working on a lab on Wednesday.


The Class of 2025 sold carnations throughout the week. Students purchased flowers and wrote messages to friends before passing them out.

Health science teacher Dr. Kevin Caizley was named Kingwood Park Teacher of the Year at the pep rally on Friday. Caizley has been at the school for the past six years. The finalists included criminal justice teacher Scarlett May and biology teachers Cassandra DeBottis and Kristen Lynam.

The Tiny Homes crew opened up their classroom recently to have students write "notes of love." Students wrote positive thoughts and Bible verses on Post-It notes before stapling them onto the interior, which will eventually be covered by shiplap.
