Texas high school football practices officially get underway on Aug. 3. The Panthers open the season against Goose Creek Memorial on Aug. 28 at Turner Stadium.

Need help with school supplies this year? Humble ISD has collected donations of school supplies over the summer to help students be ready for the first day of school. School supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis while supplies last.
The School Supply Distribution event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 7, inside Second Baptist Church, 22770 US-59 in Kingwood.

Journalism students worked with fourth through eighth graders at the annual Summer Media Camp this week. The campers learned photography, writing and video skills.

Athletes have been working out in the summer heat to prepare for the upcoming school year.

The baseball team ended its season in the state semifinals against Sharyland. It was the second year in a row that team reached the semifinals. A year earlier, they lost in the championship game to Grapevine.

The baseball team will compete in the State Semifinals this weekend in San Antonio. The Panthers will take on Sharyland in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.

As the graduates' names were each called, the seniors shook hands with principal Wes Solomon before crossing the stage to receive their diplomas from superintendent Dr. Roger Brown.

Top students in the American Sign Language II classes were selected to participate in the graduation ceremony. They performed during the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.

As the school year nears an end, the tennis team had a fun day on May 22. It was "anything but a racket day," where tennis players practiced hitting with any object they wanted as long as it was not a tennis racket.

The OnRamps Statistics classes presented their final projects to classmates. Students chose a topic and then did research to find out what conclusion the data led to.
The Advanced Biology students are spending their last few class periods dissecting rats in class.
The sculpting classes work on a new project as the final month of school gets underway.

The baseball team swept Montgomery in the first round of the playoffs. The boys are bi-district champions and moving on to round 2.

The softball team defeated Friendswood, 5-0, in the first of a three-game playoff series.

Seniors received merit awards and graduation cords and stoles during Honors Night on April 28. The seniors will graduate on Sunday, May 24.
