Humble ISD is set to dedicate the “Kim Enocksen Tennis Complex” and “Kevin McElroy Courts” with a ceremony at Kingwood High School on Wednesday, October 28 at 6 p.m.
Kim Enocksen was hired in 1994 as the head tennis coach at Kingwood High School. She led the program to be 16-time District Champions in Team Tennis and a Regional Qualifier in Team Tennis each season. In 2001, Enocksen was the Texas Tennis 5A Coach of the Year.
In 2010, the Kim Enocksen Integrity Award was established by the Texas Tennis Coaches Association. The award is given annually to a tennis coach that displays qualities of honesty, strong moral principles, and great ethics in the game and in life. In 2014, Enocksen became the first tennis coach in Humble ISD history to be inducted into the Texas Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.
Kevin McElroy joined Humble ISD in 1998 as an assistant tennis coach at Kingwood High School. In 2013, McElroy became the head coach of Kingwood High School.
After a short stint at Deer Park High School, McElroy returned to Kingwood in 2021 as head tennis coach. He served in that role until unexpectedly passing away on January 2, 2026. McElroy was a long-time member of Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) and was currently on the Board. He has earned several awards including the Kim Enocksen Integrity Award (2011), 6A State Coach of the Year (2017), the Character Award (2023), and Regional Coach of the Year (2025).
In February 2025, Coach McElroy was honored as the Texas High School Coaches Association Region 5, 6-A Coach of the Year. This past fall, he led the Kingwood High School Tennis Team to their 12th straight undefeated district team tennis championship!
The Humble ISD Board of Trustees passed a motion during the February 17, 2026 regular board meeting to approve the renaming of the Kingwood High School Tennis Complex and courts in honor of Kevin McElroy and Kim Enocksen.
