Kingwood High School students Brinda Sunki and Ema Suljkanovic earned first-place honors and were named state champions at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference.
Sunki earned first place in Family Medicine, while Suljkanovic earned first place in Medical Math. They will next compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, scheduled for June 17-20 in Indianapolis.
Students spend months preparing for the conference by studying complex medical concepts, developing clinical and leadership skills, and participating in mock competitions.
HOSA is a student organization that prepares future healthcare professionals through leadership development, education and competitive events focused on health science careers.
