Kingwood High School student Marie Popp was named the 2026 Tommy Tune Award winner for Outstanding Singer for her performance in The Sound of Music.

Hosted annually by Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), the Tommy Tune Awards celebrate excellence in high school musical theatre across the greater Houston area, recognizing achievement in performance, production and arts education.

Popp received the honor for her role in Kingwood High School’s production of The Sound of Music, directed by Camee Faulk. The award is among the program’s most prestigious individual recognitions and highlights exceptional vocal talent among student performers.

Kingwood High School also earned the Outstanding Orchestra award for The Sound of Music, with musical direction by Jason Watt.

Humble ISD recognized Popp for her achievement during the May 26 Board Recognition Meeting.
