Timeline for Selection of the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year
Monday, January 6, 2025 | Schools begin selection of Campus Teacher of the Year |
Thursday, January 23, 2025 | Campuses should submit the name of their 2025-26 Campus Teacher of the Year to the Public Communications Office by 4:00 p.m. on this date. |
Wednesday, January 29, 2025 | Optional Workshop offered by Public Communications to assist teachers with the application process for being considered for 2025-26 District Teacher of the Year. Workshop is at 4:30 p.m. This will be a webinar. |
Monday, February 10, 2025 | Teacher of the Year application materials due to the Public Communications Office by Noon. |
Wednesday, February 12, 2025 | Teacher of the Year Selection Committee receives Campus Teacher of the Year application materials to evaluate. |
Monday March 3, 2025 | Selection committee meets to choose 10 Finalists for District Teacher of the Year. Both elementary and secondary teachers must be included in the group of 10 finalists |
Wednesday, March 19, 2025 | Selection committee conducts interviews with 10 finalists and chooses an Elementary and a Secondary Teacher of the Year. Interviews will be at the Board, Business, and Technology Center, Room 300. From these two honorees, the committee names one as District Teacher of the Year. |
Tuesday, March 25, 2025 | Partnership Lake Houston Teacher of the Year luncheon at Humble Civic Center |
Friday, April 4, 2025 | The 10 Finalists are honored at the Humble ISD Education Foundation Gala held at Stampede Houston. During the Gala, the Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year are named, one of which will be named District Teacher of the Year. The District Teacher of the Year will represent Humble ISD in the Region 4 Teacher of the Year competition. |
Application Materials
To be considered for District Teacher of the Year, you will need to submit the following by Noon on Monday, February 10, 2025:
Essay One (Limit: Two double-spaced pages) Describe a content lesson or unit that defines you as a teacher. How did you engage students of all backgrounds and abilities in the learning? How did that learning influence your students? How are your beliefs about teaching demonstrated in this lesson or unit?
Essay Two (Limit: Two double-spaced pages) How do you ensure that education transcends the classroom? Describe specific ways in which you connect your students with the community. Please include evidence of student impact.
Letter of Recommendation Letter written by a person of your choice (see restrictions on who is eligible to write a letter) sharing why you are an outstanding teacher. Space limit: 8.5 x 11, single-sided, may be single-spaced, double-spaced or handwritten.
Restrictions on whom is eligible to write the letter: The letter may be written by anyone except for students to whom you currently assign a grade, parents of students to whom you currently assign a grade, district-level administrators, and School Board members.Your photo: Please submit a high-resolution jpeg image as part of your online application. Yearbook photos/head and shoulder professional portraits are ideal. No selfies. The selection committee does not see photos. Photos are used for publicity purposes after Finalists have been named.
Responses should be typed and double-spaced with at least one-inch margins. The font size must be 12 points or larger. The application must be submitted via the online application link that was sent to you via email to the Public Communications Office by Noon on Monday, February 10, 2025

We know you juggle many responsibilities: If you need to arrive late or leave early, that’s ok
This workshop is offered as a service to those who desire guidance in preparing application materials. Participation is optional. The presentations last about 45 minutes. You are welcome to stay after the presentations to ask any remaining questions.
