Bond 2022 Funded Technology Campus Schedule
Hidden Hollow Elementary School is receiving:
New Instructional Staff Laptops & Office PCs: By the Start of the 2023-2024 School Year
New Interactive Panels & Chromebook Carts: By the Start of the 2023-2024 School Year
In May of 2022, Humble ISD citizens voted for students, teachers and schools to have additional, newer technology through Bond 2022 Proposition B.
There are three categories of purchases being made:
Devices for Campus Instructional Staff: Every instructional staff member will have the opportunity to get a new laptop, charger, and carrying case. The laptop will be more powerful than the devices some teachers currently use. The new laptops will run a Windows operating system.
Devices for Campus Staff: Every office or front desk staff member will have the opportunity to get a new desktop computer, keyboard, and dual monitors.
Devices for Classrooms: Every classroom will be equipped with a touch screen panel with an integrated PC.
The devices will be rolled out on a staggered schedule. There are two reasons for this:
We remain committed to our promise of not raising the tax rate so the district sells only a portion of the bonds at one time in order to keep the tax rate stable.
It is wise to purchase technology over time, instead of all at once, so that all of our devices don’t expire in the same year.
The new technology is being rolled out first to campuses that have the oldest devices, based upon this formula:

2022-2023 Parent Letters
Letter from the Principal: May 12, 2023
Dear Hidden Hollow Elementary School Families,
We wanted to make you aware of an incident that occurred on campus today at Hidden Hollow Elementary. This afternoon, at approximately 12:45 p.m. a student bumped into the fire alarm in the gym, which set it off. When attempting to turn off the individual alarm, the entire system was set off through the building.
The Houston Fire Department responded to the school. As they arrived on campus, the alarm was able to be turned off. Students and staff on campus safely evacuated while the fire department arrived.
I would like to thank the Houston Fire Department as well as all Hidden Hollow Elementary students and staff for quickly and safely evacuating
Sincerely,
Natalie Wilkes
Principal
Humble ISD Transportation to Pilot SMART tag System
January 27, 2023
Dear Hidden Hollow Elementary Families,
Beginning Monday, January 30, Hidden Hollow Elementary students will participate in a new pilot program offered through the Humble ISD Transportation Department called SMART tag. This new program is designed to increase safety and security for students riding a school bus. All students will benefit from this program, whether they ride the bus daily, or for special events such as field trips.
All students will be issued two SMART tag identification cards by the school. One will be tethered to the student’s backpack and one will be kept in the classroom with the teacher. School buses will be equipped with a tablet that will read the ID cards to ensure that students load onto the correct bus and unload at the correct stop.
While buses are in service, their location and ridership information are available to transportation department administrators to enable them to oversee all school bus activity. The SMART tag identification cards do not store student information nor emit any student tracking information. The tags are only used to determine if a student has entered or exited a bus.
At a later date, a SMART tag Parent Portal will be made available. Some SMART tag Parent Portal features include:
SMART Alerts - parents can receive text messages when your child is approximately 10-15 minutes from their stop.
SMART Locate - parents can view a map showing the bus as their child is being transported.
Humble ISD Transportation is excited to offer this new program to Hidden Hollow Elementary School students.
Stranger Danger: August 24, 2022
Dear Hidden Hollow Elementary School Families,
I want to make our families aware of an incident that was reported by two students. This morning on the way to school, two students saw a man sitting in the bushes beside the section of the Greenbelt located between Northpark Drive and Hidden Hollow Elementary. The man was described as caucasian, medium height, with gray hair, wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt.
The two students reported that he was staring at them and took steps out of the bush as if he might be following them. The students were on their bikes and continued riding to school, arriving safely. The students reported the incident when they arrived at school.
We reported this to Humble ISD Police and a report was filed.
This is a good opportunity to emphasize the following safety tips with your children:
If anything unusual occurs, tell an adult immediately. Parents and teachers need to know what happened right away.
Walk or bike to and from school in groups.
Never talk to strangers or accept rides from them.
Arrange for immediate access to neighbors and other trusted adults who could answer questions or be contacted in an emergency.
Tour the neighborhood with your child to identify safe and dangerous circumstances.
Never get into a car, enter a home, look for a lost pet, or accept candy or toys from an adult, unless your parents know what you are doing and have given you their permission first.
Please report any concerns to school staff, Humble ISD Police at 281-641-7900, Houston Police at 713-884-3131, or through the Humble ISD iHELP app.
Sincerely,
Natalie Wilkes
