The Humble ISD Board of Trustees honored eight elementary school students at the Tuesday, Sept. 29, Recognition Board Meeting for being selected as finalists for the 2026 National Math Stars programs, an initiative that identifies and nurtures promising young mathematical talent.
Nearly 9,000 students from across the nation applied for National Math Stars programs this year. Eight Humble ISD students were named finalists, including three who were ultimately selected to participate in the National Math Stars Pathfinders program.
The following students were recognized as National Math Stars finalists:

Fall Creek Elementaryβs Lillian Arnold
Groves Elementaryβs Erina Yamato
Groves Elementaryβs Marcela Barcellos de Lima Nalin
Three additional Humble ISD students were selected as National Math Stars Pathfinders:

The Pathfinders program provides students with yearlong mathematical mentoring and enrichment opportunities designed to challenge high-potential young mathematicians. Through the program, students further develop their curiosity, problem-solving abilities and mathematical thinking.
Being selected from a pool of nearly 9,000 applicants is an outstanding accomplishment, and we are incredibly proud to see Humble ISD students recognized among talented young mathematicians from across the country.
