Upcoming Student Health Screenings

State-required health screenings will begin soon for students in Kindergarten and grades 1, 3, and 5. These students will receive vision and hearing screenings. Students in grades 1, 3, and 5 will also receive the Texas Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes in Children, which consists of a quick visual check of the back of the neck. Girls in grade 5 will also receive a spinal screening.

Please make sure your child brings and wears any prescribed glasses or hearing devices on screening days. Families will be notified if a student needs additional screening or follow-up with a healthcare provider.

Parents and guardians have the right to opt their child out of these screenings. Information about Humble ISD’s opt-out process is available on the district’s Texas Senate Bill 12 Consent Notice page.

These quick screenings help identify possible concerns that could affect a child’s health, learning, and success at school. If you have any questions, please email me at Leigh.Utakrit@humbleisd.net. I'm looking forward to working with you to provide our students with the support they need to succeed!
