CMS Back to School

Colt Families,

School starts on Wednesday, August 9, and our staff has been hard at work preparing for your arrival.  We have a wonderful year planned for you, and we wanted to take this opportunity to share some first-day procedures and updated information with all of you.

Please read further for information about the start of the year:

Arrival and Dismissal - Map of Campus and Traffic Flow

Car Riders:

6th graders are dropped off on the West Lake Houston side of the building and will enter through the 700 hallway door. Students are allowed to wait outside of the main entrance until the 7:45 bell rings. 6th graders will wait inside the 700 hallway and main hallway in front of the office until dismissed at the 8:25 bell.

7th and 8th graders are dropped off on the Sandy Forks side of the building. The driveway traffic is one-way. Parents, please pull through the driveway and do not drop off in the parking lot area as this poses a safety hazard for cars who may be parking. Students are allowed to enter the inside commons area at 7:45 when the bell rings. 7th and 8th graders will wait in the commons area until the 8:25 bell.  The tardy bell rings at 8:30 for all students.

Bus Riders:

If you ride a bus, here is the link to the bus finder to make sure you have the correct route information. If you ride a bus, you will still walk to your designated grade level entry unless it is a bad weather day.

Bike Riders

Please lock your bikes in the designated bike racks and enter through your grade-level entry area.

1st Day of School Procedures

Lunch and Bell Schedules

The campus will operate on a three-lunch bell schedule during the fourth period, and students will be assigned to their lunch by grade level.

6th grade: 11:25 - 11:55

7th grade: 12:00 - 12:30

8th grade: 12:35 - 1:05

There is a 5-minute passing period between each lunch. As shared in our Student Code of Conduct, third-party vendor deliveries are not allowed and will not be received. If parents want to drop off food for their students, this will be done at the front vestibule. Lunches will be left on the grade level shelf with the student’s name and grade. Students are responsible for checking in at the grade level AP/Counselor office for pick-ups. Students will not be notified.

Bell Schedules  CMS Bell Schedule

All students will be on the same bell schedule this year. This decision was made based on teacher feedback and discipline data from last school year.  One bell schedule allows for more adult supervision in the hallways and fewer interruptions for learning.  Students will have the first two weeks to acclimate to their schedules. We will not begin counting tardies until August 23.

Friday Pep Rally

Friday, August 11, will be our first pep rally. We will be on the Pep Rally Bell schedule. The theme will be CMS Green Out, so everyone should wear their Creekwood green.

Fine Arts at the Astros Game

On August 22, our Fine Arts students are going to be performing the National Anthem at the Astros Game, and we are very excited to see them and cheer on the Astros.

Open House

Please join us for Open House on August 15 from 6:30 to 8:30. You will be able to rotate through your child’s schedule and meet their teachers.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Humble ISD Child Nutrition Service is now accepting Free & Reduced Meal Application for the 2023-2024 school year.  Please read information on how free and reduced status can impact more than just meals for students.

Households must reapply annually in order to be eligible for free or reduced-priced meals. Students who received free/reduced-price meals during the current school year qualify for those benefits for the first 30 days of the following school year in August. However, once a new application is processed, the eligibility determined by the new application will supersede the previous year’s eligibility even if that is within those first 30 days. Any student who does not have a new application processed by the 30th school day will automatically be changed to full pay.

Personalized Counseling

Creekwood is excited about our district’s continued vision for Personalized Student Counseling, and our counselors can’t wait to strengthen their relationships with their students. Please click here to view a video from Humble ISD about Personalized Student Counseling: A Roadmap to Success to learn more about what your student will experience this year.
