It was Ava Day at Atascocita Springs Elementary!!
The campus cheered on Ava, a kindergartener, who is battling high-risk neuroblastoma, with a parade. Students made signs and each got a pink “Ava’s Fight Squad” bracelet!!

Congratulations to Ms. Davis, voted Teacher of the Year, and Mr. Hernandez, voted Para-Educator of the Year! Thank you both for the heart, dedication, and joy you bring to our students every single day. 🐾💚🖤

We understand that because of the cold some families may need extra time in the morning and may choose to take students to school rather than have them wait outside at bus stops. To provide flexibility, middle schools and high schools will not record student tardies for the first period on Tuesday. Elementary schools will not record student tardies until after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The district is allowed to exempt first period tardiness due to the weather. However, absences on Tuesday must be recorded due to state education code requirements.
We appreciate your support through the winter storm.

Our 3rd graders’ Tower Garden is thriving over winter break! In just the first week, green beans popped out everywhere—and we’ve even got a cucumber starting to grow. 🥒🫘
Big thanks to Mrs. Mahaffey for stopping by to fill the water reservoir and snap these photos. One more week of break, and we can’t wait to check it in person!

Two of our 2nd grade classes enjoyed a special Library Takeover powered by the Houston Rockets—with a fun read-aloud, games, prizes, and (best part!) FREE books to take home!
Huge thanks to our librarian, Mrs. Froom, for putting together such a joyful experience for our students. 🐾💛
