Black History Month 2026

Students across the district honored Black History Month with a range of celebratory events highlighting African American history, culture and achievements. Some examples of campus events included the following:

Fall Creek Elementary hosted a Black History Month Living Museum where fifth-grade students presented to parents and classmates. Historical figures included Serena Williams, Jackie Robinson, President Barack Obama, Maya Angelou, Frederick Douglass and Tiger Woods.

Lakeshore Elementary held its third annual Black History Program, which included a third-grade performance featuring the Leopard Steppers.

Pine Forest Elementary hosted a Black History Month celebration featuring student performances honoring the Divine Nine, a council composed of nine historically Black fraternities and sororities.

Ridge Creek Elementary hosted a Black History Month program featuring step teams, a live wax museum, poetry, a drumline and a choir performance.

Autumn Ridge Middle School hosted a Black History Living Museum featuring historical figures including Malcolm X, Claudette Colvin, Madam C.J. Walker, Mae Jemison, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Don King and Bessie Coleman.

Humble High School celebrated “A Century of Black History Month Through Music,” a community event featuring musical performances by Park Lakes Elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade and Humble High School students.
