Atascocita Middle School AVID Site Coordinator Crystal Medina has been selected as a speaker for the AVID Summer Institute 2026 in Dallas.
A recipient of the 2025 AVID Global Secondary Teacher of the Year Award, Medina continues to be recognized for her leadership and impact in advancing student success through AVID.
“She is a true champion for students and a vital part of the success of Atascocita Middle School,” Atascocita Middle School Principal Jermon Malone said. “She works tirelessly to ensure students are equipped with the skills, opportunities, and mindset needed for success in their academic journeys and beyond. Her leadership and commitment to excellence set a high standard across the district.
“We deeply value her dedication, passion, and unwavering belief in every student she serves.”
Medina was also selected as the 2026 Campus Teacher of the Year at Atascocita Middle School.
As an AVID Speaker for Summer Institute Medina will share her story of growth and the impact of AVID on her students, her leadership, and her practice as an educator. Through her work, she models critical thinking, collaboration, and self-advocacy while creating opportunities for students to access rigorous learning, build confidence, and prepare for college and careers.
“Her selection reflects not only her dedication, but also the collective efforts of the educators, families, and students who make AVID a powerful force across Humble ISD,” Jennifer Holloway, Humble ISD Middle School Advanced Learning Coordinator, said.
