Barron takes 2nd
Five Track & Field athletes were sent off on May 14 for the 6A State Championship on Saturday, May 16. The athletes include sophomore triple jumper Jordyn Barron, junior shot put and discus thrower Jayden Kimble, junior triple jumper Isaiah Rasheed, junior 100m sprinter Zyiah Ganaway, and junior 3200m runner Eli Mugambi.
βI was crying,β Barron said. βI was upset at first because I didnβt jump the best that I could, but the fact that I won [regionals] as a sophomore against seniors was very touching.β
At the state championship, Barron placed second with a jump of 41β 2.5β, a personal best. This result helped her accomplish both goals of making a personal record (PR) and making the podium.
βFor the rest of high school, my goals are to continue to be consistent, grow, be better, and continue to make state,β Barron said. βAs long as you believe in yourself and have faith in God, then anything is possible.β
