Summer
Reading
2023Summer Reading
All incoming 6th-8th grade CMS students are asked to read for 20 minutes every day in the summer. Additionally, students are required to read a minimum of ONE book of their choice from the book list. There will be a connected assignment that ties directly to the focus concept during the first grading period. As an optional enrichment activity, students can track their progress on the “1,000 Minutes of Reading” game board. There are several different rewards they can earn along the way, including a pizza party for those that reach the 1,000 minutes goal! The due date for turning in the game board is Friday, August 18, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Pamela Love.

Donors Choose
ProjectsRELA Donors Choose Projects
Seventh grade students will be participating in a book club in the spring semester and RELA teachers would like to offer them a choice based on their interests. The RELA department has set up two Donors Choose projects to help give students access to copies of the novel, Two Degrees by Alan Gratz and Zane and the Hurricane: A Story of Katrina by Rodman Philbrick. Donating to these project will allow students to have access to these selections for years to come. Thank you for your support! Questions? Please contact RELA Instructional Coach, Pam Love.
