On September 16, five Humble ISD students were surprised as the inaugural recipients of the Humble Hero Award, proudly sponsored by Chick-fil-A – Wilson Road location. The new districtwide award recognizes elementary and secondary students who consistently demonstrate kindness, compassion, leadership, and teamwork while making a positive impact in their school communities.
This round of honorees highlights student-athletes and campus leaders from across the district:
Bryden King: Summer Creek High School
Senior Bryden King was recognized for his exceptional dedication to serving and leading his peers. King serves as President of the Student Council, a leader in the choir, and an active member of the band, National Honor Society, and Tri M Honor Society. “Bryden has touched countless lives through his leadership and genuine heart for others,” said Stephanie Lopez, SCHS Student Council sponsor.
Isabel Todd, Isabella Fernandez, and Caitlyn Thibodeaux: Kingwood High School
These three Varsity swim team members founded Victory in Unity, a non-profit organization created over the summer to ensure student athletes have access to necessary equipment and financial support regardless of financial barriers. Shortly after launching their organization, the trio received their first request for assistance and immediately raised the necessary funds to support a fellow athlete in need. Andrew Braud: Bear Branch Elementary
Known for his big personality and welcoming heart, fifth grader Andrew Braud greets everyone entering Bear Branch Elementary and makes every individual feel valued. He was recognized for his compassion, patience, and encouraging support he offers to his peers every day. “Andrew brings so much joy and warmth to Bear Branch Elementary every single day. His genuine kindness and ability to make every student feel included make him a hero in our school community,” said Francesca Newman, Counselor.
The Humble Hero Award was established to highlight students who make a strong impact in their community, exemplify outstanding character, support their classmates, and build an inclusive environment across all Humble ISD campuses.
