Summer Creek High School completed a remarkable year filled with UIL academic and athletic achievements propelling it to an 8th overall finish in the final Class 6A UIL Lone Star Cup standings.
βWe have been in the Top 25 consistently for the past five years,β Summer Creek High School Principal Dr. Matthew Mahony said. βThatβs no small feat in itself. Because you are competing against 250 other Class 6A high schools. Thatβs tough because those are the biggest and best high schools in the state.
βTo finish in the Top 25 and let alone the Top 10 is just a testament to our kids, teachers and coaches, just showing the excellent programs and adults we have here that support those programs.β
The UIL Lone Star Cup points are based on team performances in district and state championships. Schools get points from every UIL Athletic competition along with UIL Academic and Robotics competitions. There are 251 Class 6A high schools in the State of Texas that compete for the UIL Lone Star Cup.
Summer Creek finished with 82 total points. The Bulldogs garnered the most points from girls basketball winning the 2026 UIL Class 6A DI State Championship in March. That was worth 18 points.
The Summer Creek boys soccer team earned 14 points, reaching the UIL Class 6A DII State Championship Match; girls soccer, baseball and football earned 10 points apiece. Girls soccer and baseball reached the UIL Class 6A DI State Semifinals, while football reached the Region III-6A Championship game.
Summer Creek also earned points from boys basketball (4), girls track & field (4), District Academic Champions (4), softball (2), team tennis (2), volleyball (2), Robotics FIRST (1) and spirit (1).
βThis is a reflection of what happens when an entire school and community displays concrete commitment and real support daily,β Summer Creek High School Campus Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach Kenny Harrison said. βEvery sport, every coach, and every student-athlete contributed. Proving that at Summer Creek success isnβt isolated to any one program, itβs everyoneβs standard.
βIβm extremely thankful to be a part of a school and community who still see the real value in public education and what can be accomplished when a community and school are aligned!β
