Humble ISD invites families and the community to celebrate the grand opening of Lakeland Elementary’s new “Futuristic”-themed playground. A dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at the school, located at 1101 Rustic Timbers Dr., Humble TX 77338
The event will feature a student performance by the Wildcat Steppers followed by remarks from Principal Lucy Anderson, and student reflections on what the playground means to them.
Lakeland Elementary School’s playground expansion brings futuristic fun to students! Building on the excitement of the original Hedra® play structure, custom climber, and swings installed in 2021, the new addition offers even more ways to climb, explore, and play.
The new play area features a two tower Hedra® with geometric shapes and modern lines that stand out visually and offer thrilling slides back to the surface after an adventurous climb. A Super Duper Netplex® adds inclusive excitement with a central spiral belting path, giving children of all abilities a way to climb to the top and enjoy spectacular views before heading back down. The Quantis® M.2 incorporates unique play experiences through a mix of net and belt climbers, balance challenges, and plenty of hangout spots, marking the first installation of its kind in the Houston area.
Additional swings keep the fun going across the playground, featuring molded bucket seats with harnesses and a Flexx™ Swing to provide accessible options for children of all abilities. A seamless poured-in-place safety surface ensures full accessibility and incorporates a creative circuit board design that complements the playground’s modern, tech-inspired aesthetic.
This play space was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas, the exclusive supplier for Landscape Structures playground equipment in Southeast Texas.
This new playground marks the 27th installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the ninth unveiled during the 2025-2026 school year.
Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session.
