Inspiring Moment: Ava Day
In this month's Inspiring Moment, we see how the Atascocita Springs Elementary community rallied around kindergarten student Ava Myatt, who is undergoing treatment for high-risk neuroblastoma. The campus held a special "Ava Day" to celebrate her and we take you in the halls for this incredible moment.
Summer Creek High School Girls Basketball State Champions
Summer Creek defeated state-ranked No. 9 Pearland Dawson in the Region III-6A-DI Final and No. 4 San Antonio Brennan in the State Semifinals to advance to the State Championship Game. The Lady Bulldogs went on to defeat Flower Mound 55 to 45 to capture the programβs second-straight State Championship. This is the third basketball state championship in Humble ISD history, joining Kingwood boys basketball from 2005.
Junior Erin Newsom was named the State Championship Game Most Valuable Player after scoring 15 points, going 11 for 14 from the free throw line, and grabbing 9 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.
TMEA All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra
Humble ISD recognized 14 band, choir and orchestra students who performed as members of the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra, the highest individual honor a Texas high school musician can achieve.

Evan Salas and Ethan Abrahams-Nhliziyo were recognized after being selected among 97 students nationwide for Carnegie Hallβs National Youth Orchestra, which will tour Europe this summer.
