Humble High School’s Mariachi Los Tres Gatos has advanced to the UIL Mariachi State Competition for the first time in school history after earning a sweepstakes rating at the UIL Coastal Bend Mariachi Competition.
The group received scores of 1, 1 and 2, qualifying the students for the state contest in only the program’s third year of UIL participation.
“My hope is that they carry themselves with corazón and orgullo, knowing they earned their way here,” Humble High School teacher and mariachi band sponsor Samara Martinez said. “I am beyond excited for this group of students to be the first to take us to UIL State Mariachi, and I couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication.”
The UIL Mariachi State Competition is scheduled for February 19–21, 2026, at the Seguin ISD Performing Arts Center in Seguin, Texas.
