April Street, an Algebra II teacher at Summer Creek High School, received a $10,000 grant through a partnership between Cheez-It, H-E-B and the College Football Playoff Foundation as part of the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative.
The funding will allow Street to purchase Chromebooks and a Chromebook cart to support digital instruction, particularly for Emergent Bilingual students who rely on translation tools. Principal Dr. Matthew Mahony said Street has already made a strong impact on the campus, and Street said the grant was both empowering and affirming of her efforts to support students.
