Dr. Shana Perry Named Associate Superintendent

The Humble ISD School Board approved Dr. Shana Perry as Associate Superintendent for School Improvement and Compliance at the December School Board Meeting. The Associate Superintendent’s responsibilities include Educational Support Services (includes Special Education, Health Services, Section 504 Accommodations, and Dyslexia Services), Fine Arts, and Athletics. The position became open with Dr. Roger Brown being promoted to Superintendent of Schools in January 2025.

Dr. Perry most recently served as an Assistant Superintendent of Schools with Houston ISD, responsible for up to 49 schools. She also has served as an Executive Director for Oklahoma City Public Schools and as an Elementary, Middle, and High School Principal. She was Middle School Principal of the Year for Oklahoma in 2011. As a teacher, she taught Grades 2-4, Middle School English and Social Studies, and Elementary Music. In addition to Oklahoma and Texas, she has worked in Kansas and Germany.

In Kansas, as a High School Principal, the graduation rate at her school rose from 68 to 89 percent in one year. Dr. Perry values helping both students and educators grow. Thirty-nine people whom she supervised moved into leadership roles, becoming a Principal or a district leader.

Dr. Perry brings 28 years of experience in public education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma City University, her Master’s degree at the University of Central Oklahoma and her Doctorate at Oklahoma State University.

She is the mother of two adult children. Her son, Drake, works in real estate in Oklahoma City and has experience teaching special education. Her daughter, Dru, coordinates enrichment learning for Houston ISD students.

Dr. Perry’s approach is to be “kid focused and data driven.”

“I am honored to join a district with such strong community values and a clear commitment to its children,” she said. “I believe deeply that when we empower adults and strengthen systems, students thrive. I look forward to partnering with Humble ISD to build a future where every learner is prepared and inspired.”

Her first day with Humble ISD will be Jan. 6, 2026.
