Humble ISD has named Emily Conklin as the district’s next Chief Community Engagement Officer. The position became available because Jerri Monbaron is retiring at the end of the fall semester after serving Humble ISD for 26 years.
Conklin currently serves in Sheldon ISD as Executive Director of Communications and Community Partnerships. She brings more than 20 years of experience in Texas public schools, having worked in Highland Park ISD, Northwest ISD and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD.
The Chief Community Engagement Officer leads strategies to build partnerships with parents, community members, businesses and organizations. Key responsibilities include coordinating and managing the district’s volunteer programs, campus parent groups, business and community partnerships and serving as Executive Director of the Humble ISD Education Foundation. Additionally, this position oversees the competitive grants life cycle process, securing and stewarding outside competitive funding that supports district priorities.
Conklin earned her bachelor’s degree at Texas State University and her master’s degree at Tarleton State University. She is the mother of four children, including two who are current Humble ISD students. Her husband is an administrator in a Houston-area school district.
“As the daughter of two public school teachers and a proud graduate of Texas public schools, I have a deep rooted passion for advocating for public education,” Conklin said.
Conklin will begin with Humble ISD in January.
