GE Playground

Humble ISD invites families and the community to celebrate the grand opening of Groves Elementary’s new “Enchanted Forest” playground. A dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, at the school, located at 11902 Madera Run Parkway

The event will feature student performances, remarks from Principal Angela Bland, and student reflections on what the new playground means to them.

Designed for children ages 5-12, the nature themed play space features a tree tower, treehouse and fortress mutli-climber connected by bridges, steppers and balancing challenges. It also includes slides, spinners, swings and animal designs throughout.

Inclusive features include a molded bucket seat with harness, a belting path to the top of the tree tower, an accessible dome, and spinners, ensuring play opportunities for children of all abilities. The space also includes nature-inspired elements, such as sculpted animals and lumber pieces for tactile play experiences. The poured-in-place surfacing ensures accessibility while tying the theme together with woodland creatures, caterpillars, and mushrooms.

This new playground marks the 20th installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the second unveiled during the 2025-2026 school year. The playground was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.

Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session.
