KMS Outdoor Dedication

Humble ISD invites the community to celebrate the opening of Kingwood Middle School’s new ninja course and outdoor fitness area. Families are welcome to attend the dedication ceremony at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, at Kingwood Middle School, located at 2407 Pine Terrace Dr.

The event will feature student performances, remarks from Principal Michael Curl, and a live demonstration of the ninja course by student athletes.

This is the sixth ninja course and outdoor fitness area completed in Humble ISD, part of the district’s initiative to make physical activity fun and accessible to students.

The Kingwood course features 17 obstacles in school colors of black and red, offering challenges similar to those seen in televised competitions. Obstacles range from beginner-friendly elements like slanted jump boards, a spider web climber, cheese walls, and a burmese floating bridge, to advanced challenges such as a salmon ladder, hovering beams, and swings. Step-up clamps allow students of varying heights to participate, and some sections offer multiple challenge options. The course culminates with a 12-foot Finish Wall.

Additional highlights include rotating cone wheels, trapeze trainers, hanging beams, hanging coins, a rock wall, crankshaft, double loop jumper, and more—each designed to test strength, agility, and coordination.

Alongside the ninja course, the new outdoor fitness area includes five strength machines (leg press, horizontal row, chest press, lat pull down, and shoulder press), plus an ab bench, lower back bench, and pull-up/leg lift bars for bodyweight training. The space features rubber surfacing in Kingwood’s red-and-black colors with cougar pawprints in the design.

The ninja course was designed and installed by Greenfields Outdoor Fitness, while the adjacent fitness area was created by Kompan. Both spaces will be open for public use outside of school hours.
