Humble ISD has named Dr. Joe Clark as Director of Fine Arts. The role became open following the June 2025 retirement of Destry Balch. Dr. Clark joins Humble ISD from Spring ISD, where he has served as Director of Performing and Visual Arts since 2013.
The Director of Fine Arts provides leadership for Humble ISD’s PreK-12 fine arts programs, overseeing curriculum, instruction, staff development, program operations, and community partnerships to support student success through the arts.
Dr. Clark brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including leadership of districtwide fine arts programs, curriculum development, and professional learning. Under his leadership in Spring ISD, the district earned multiple state and national recognitions for excellence in fine arts education.
Dr. Clark holds a Doctorate in K-12 Professional Leadership from the University of Houston, along with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Sam Houston State University. He served as President of the Texas Fine Arts Administrators and was recognized by the organization in 2023 as Outstanding Fine Arts Administrator of the Year. He began his career as a middle school band director and later served as a high school band director.
“I am honored to join Humble ISD and excited to serve its students, teachers, and community through the arts,” Dr. Clark said. “Humble ISD has a strong tradition of excellence in fine arts, and I look forward to building on that foundation.”
His first day with Humble ISD will be August 6, 2025.
