Humble ISD invites the community to celebrate the opening of the new outdoor obstacle and fitness course at Woodcreek Middle School. Families are welcome to attend a special dedication ceremony at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at Woodcreek Middle School, located at 14600 Woodson Park Dr.
The event will feature student performances and speeches from Woodcreek Middle School students, as well as remarks from Principal Alan Moye. As part of the ceremony, athletes from West Lake Middle School will demonstrate the obstacle course.
A highlight of the event will be a special appearance by Adam Rayl, a six-time finalist on American Ninja Warrior. Rayl will speak to students and families about the importance of physical fitness, perseverance, and overcoming challenges. He will also complete a demo run through the course during the ceremony and be available afterward to meet students and take photos.
The new obstacle and fitness course is the fifth of its kind completed in Humble ISD and was designed to make physical activity fun and accessible for teens. It provides an engaging alternative for students who may have outgrown traditional playgrounds or prefer non-competitive fitness options. The course includes 17 unique obstacles, all in Woodcreek’s school colors of black and red, offering a wide range of physical challenges similar to those seen in televised competitions.
For beginners, approachable features include the Slanted Jump Boards, Spider Web Climber, Cheese Walls, and Burmese Floating Bridge. More advanced users may gravitate toward high-difficulty elements like the Salmon Ladder, Hovering Beams, and Swings.
Step-Up Clamps are positioned throughout the course to help users reach obstacles of varying heights, and there are sections where students can choose between two different challenges during their run. The course culminates with a 12-foot Finish Wall—raised higher than the standard Greenfields design to offer an extra level of difficulty tailored to Woodcreek students.
Additional highlights include the Rotating Cone Wheels, which test timing and agility with swinging targets, and the Toggle Pull-Up Triangles, a swinging monkey bar-style challenge. The Rock Wall offers a horizontal climbing experience using hand grips only, while the Crankshaft presents a rotating handle obstacle that demands strength and coordination. Other obstacles include the Trapeze Trainers, which require users to swing from bar to bar; the Hanging Beams, which test balance and grip; and the Hanging Coins, which challenge users to leap between suspended discs. The Double Loop Jumper allows users to navigate changing heights using hand-held bars, and the Salmon Ladder requires users to propel themselves upward using only upper body strength.
The obstacle course was designed and installed by Greenfields Outdoor Fitness, while the adjacent fitness area was created by Kompan. The course and fitness area will be open for public use outside of school hours.
