Woodcreek Middle School Principal Dr. Alan Moye was notified in April that he was named a statewide semifinalist as a part of the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.
For Dr. Moye, receiving this recognition is a reflection on the work that his entire staff on campus puts in on a daily basis.
“They show up every day and they’re dedicated to making sure that kids have great opportunities, well thought out and creative instruction,” Dr. Moye said. “It’s absolutely a testament to the hard work that these folks do here.
“It’s great to be recognized but at the same time, those of us in these roles understand who are really the ones back there making the wheels turn.”
H-E-B received more than 2,000 applications for the annual awards from across the State of Texas. Dr. Moye was one of 50 principals in Texas to be chosen as a semifinalist. The principals who advanced to be finalists for the award were notified in April with on-campus visits.
“Dr. Moye is a dynamic leader with a passion for kids,” Humble ISD Assistant Superintendent of Middle Schools Donnie Bodron said. “He has inspired his campus to Be ELITE through (Effort, Leadership, Integrity, Teamwork, & Endurance). Dr. Moye is always a visible presence throughout the community demonstrating his love for students and genuine interest in their success.”
For being selected as a semifinalist, Dr. Moye received a certificate and a $500 H-E-B gift card.
The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards are designed to honor outstanding public school professionals and to thank them for their dedication and commitment. Through this program, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities and who inspire others to do the same.
“It’s awesome just because it’s a Texas-owned company,” Dr. Moye said. “Not only are they invested in education, they’re invested in Texas students across the state. It’s an incredible way to show your commitment to where you started.”
Since the program’s inception in 2002, H-E-B has awarded more than $14 million in funding to outstanding public school teachers, counselors, principals, school boards and districts, as well as public and private early childhood education centers across Texas.
