In February, 19 Humble ISD band, choir and orchestra students performed as members of the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra.
The students represented Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Kingwood Park and Summer Creek High Schools.
On Tuesday, April 9, the students were honored at the monthly Humble ISD School Board Meeting. Each was presented a certificate to commemorate the accomplishment:

Being named a member of the TMEA All State Performing Ensembles is the highest individual honor a high school musician can achieve. Students are selected through a rigorous multi-level audition process that runs from September through January and starts with over 70,000 entries.
Students begin the process as early as July, working to perfect multiple musical selections before beginning the grueling audition process. The performers must make their way through All District, All Region and All Area auditions to finally be selected to perform as a member of the Texas Music Educators Association All State Band, Choir or Orchestra. All State Musicians represent the Top 1% of their instrument or voice in the state of Texas.
