It was a historic season for Humble ISD on the gridiron.
Summer Creek became the first-ever football team in the 105-year history of the district to punch its ticket to play for a state championship. The Bulldogs advanced to the Class 6A Division II State Championship game against DeSoto.
Summer Creek finished the year 14-2, falling to the Eagles in the title game, and as the Class 6A Division II State Runner-Up led by District 21-6A MVP Lloyd Avant at running back.
Avant finished his senior season with 2,112 yards this and 30 touchdowns, including two in the title game. For his career, Avant finished north of 5,000 yards rushing. The Summer Creek back is verbally committed to the University of Tulsa.
“Well deserved after a phenomenal high school career playing in the most competitive district in the state,” Summer Creek coach Kenny Harrison said. “Going from sophomore year earning First-Team, All-District to Junior year being named Offensive Player of the Year and finishing as the District MVP speaks volume about his commitment to the game.”
Atascocita turned in another banner year reaching the Regional Final for a third-straight year and finished with an 11-3 record. The Eagles have made at least the third round of the playoffs in each of the last nine years dating back to 2016.
The Eagles were led by District 21-6A Co-Offensive Player of the Year Zion Brown at quarterback and District 21-6A Newcomer of the Year Cardae Mack at running back.
Brown passed for 3,211 yards and 38 scores, while rushing for another 559 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Atascocita signal-caller is verbally committed to the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. Mack, only a sophomore, burst onto the scene registering 1,370 yards rushing and 18 trips to the endzone. Mack averaged 9.3 yards per carry.
Humble ISD had a total of 94 players earn individual accolades or make the all-district squads. Listed below are the complete all-district teams for District 21-6A and District 8-5A Division II alphabetically by team:
