Humble ISD Police Receive FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award

The Humble ISD Police Department recently earned the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Agency Trilogy Award, becoming one of only two school district police departments in the nation to earn the award.

FBI-LEEDA presents this award to law enforcement agencies whose entire Command Staff have completed the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Leadership series, which includes the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute, and the Executive Leadership Institute.

“We have worked for years to get everyone through this and get it completed, and we finally have,” Humble ISD Police Chief Solomon Cook said. “We undertook this training because we want to model and teach the best practices to everyone in our department.”

FBI-LEEDA strengthens law enforcement management practices through training, education and networking.

The Humble ISD Police Department joins 11 other police departments in Texas and 83 other police departments in the nation to receive the award. Only two school district police departments in the nation have received the award.

At the end of May, four Humble ISD police supervisors completed the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute, which was the final piece of their trilogy series. This earned each of them the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award and allowed the department to receive the award because all Command Staff have now done the entire three-course series.

“A lot of agencies don’t accomplish this because it is a lot,” Humble ISD Assistant Chief Erica Journet said.

Chief Cook says the training strengthened teamwork.

"This gets us all using the same language, with the same training background,” Chief Cook said. “By us having the same mindset, we know we’re going in the same direction.”

Humble ISD Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen said she is proud of the department.

“This is an outstanding accomplishment for Chief Solomon Cook and his entire command staff at the Humble ISD Police Department,” Dr. Fagen said. “To earn a national award from FBI-LEEDA shows our department’s commitment to the highest professional standards in the best interests of our students, staff and community.”
