Humble ISD has announced its 10 finalists for District Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024.

Elementary Finalists Demetria Claybon - Autumn Creek Elementary, First Grade Susan Mitchell - Groves Elementary, Librarian Randi Cormier - North Belt Elementary, Fifth Grade Math & Science Jennifer Eakin - Pine Forest Elementary, First Grade Paul Touchstone - Willow Creek Elementary, Fifth Grade Math & Science 

Secondary Finalists Ciji Buchanan - Timberwood MS, 8th Grade Reading English and Language Arts Michelle Smith - Atascocita Middle, 6th Grade World Cultures Teresa Aranda - Summer Creek High School, Dance Eric Coovert - Kingwood Park HS, Dual Credit & A.P. History Kathleen Tansley - Kingwood HS, 10th Grade English Finalists are selected by the District Teacher of the Year Selection Committee based upon written application materials. Once selected, finalists are then interviewed by the Committee. During the Humble ISD Education Foundation Boots & Bling fundraising event on April 28, one of the finalists will be announced as Elementary Teacher of the Year and one will also be announced as Secondary Teacher of the Year. One of these two will also be named District Teacher of the Year. 

The Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year will both represent Humble ISD in the Region 4 Teacher of the Year contest that occurs during the summer. The 10 Finalists were selected from 47 Campus Teachers of the Year.
