Dear Humble Middle School Families,

We want to take every precaution for our students’ safety. With that in mind, I am sharing information with you about a stranger danger incident that was reported to campus administrators.

On Tuesday afternoon after school, students were walking home on Silver Bend Drive and Will Clayton Parkway. A man pushing a cart, who was described as Hispanic and possibly homeless, approached several students and made threatening comments to one of the students. The man proceeded to remove his clothes, down to his underwear. Although the students ran from this individual, he proceeded to follow students into the Clayton’s Corner neighborhood where he eventually laid down on a homeowner’s front yard. No other interaction with students occurred.

Campus administrators have notified Humble ISD Police who are reporting the incident to Harris County Precinct 4.

Now is a good time to emphasize safety tips with your children:

If anything unusual occurs, tell an adult immediately. Parents and teachers need to know what happened right away.
Walk or bike to and from school in groups.
Never talk to strangers or accept rides from them.
Arrange for immediate access to neighbors and other trusted adults who could answer questions or be contacted in an emergency.
Tour the neighborhood with your child to identify safe and dangerous circumstances.
Never get into a car, enter a home, look for a lost pet, or accept candy or toys from an adult, unless your parents know what you are doing and have given you their permission first.
