Elementary Playgrounds - New or additional playground equipment, with themes focused on imaginative play and learning, is being installed at every elementary school on handicap-accessible, poured-in-place rubber surfaces instead of mulch, over the next several years.

The district intends to publish a map of themed playgrounds for the community’s use outside of school hours.

Middle & High School Outdoor Fitness - Outdoor equipment for students, PE classes, and JROTC, are being installed on handicapped-accessible, poured-in-place rubber surfaces at middle and high schools over the next several years. The Middle School adult fitness equipment is available for community use outside of school hours.

High School surfacing expands beyond the equipment for activities such as cheer or dance.

*Bond 2022 would fund the majority of playground and outdoor fitness equipment. Other funding sources that will be used include federal (ESSER), City of Houston (TIRZ), and District (savings).
