First Aid and Illness Assessment
- Treatment following nursing assessment is limited by nursing scope of practice, district policies, department procedures and clinic inventory.
- Students may be returned to class and/or referred for additional treatment outside of the school setting based on assessment.
Medication Administration
- All routine medications should be given at home if possible per recommendations made by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- In instances where the time of day or number of administrations required in the day do not allow for home administration, see your campus nurse for more information on requirements for medication administration at school.
Screening
- State required screenings in school vary by grade level, age and gender.
- Types of screenings your student may receive at school include vision, hearing, spinal, and diabetes risk assessment.
