Policies and Procedures
Attendance & Late Arrival
School Hours
All Grades PreK - 5th grade: 8:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
Tardy Policy
Students arriving to school after 8:00 a.m. are counted as tardy.
All students are expected to attend school regularly and to be on time to school.
Students who enter a class after the tardy bell sounds are a disruption to that class.
Cafeteria Meal Account Refunds
Any balance that is in your child’s cafeteria account at the end of this year will follow your student to his or her new campus. That money will be available for the student on the first day of school. If your student attends summer school, the money will transfer to the summer school and any balance left after summer school will transfer to their school in August.
If your child will no longer be enrolled in a Humble ISD school or you would like your money refunded, please contact your current cafeteria manager. The campus manager will refund the remaining balance to you. You can receive your refund in person or by sending a written, signed and dated request with your child. The last date to receive your refund is Wednesday, June 3, 2010 before noon. After that time, managers will deposit all remaining cash and will be unable to make refunds.
Refunds may be made by check only during the summer months. You may request a check at the Child Nutrition Center located at 1705 Wilson Road, Building D, Humble, Texas 77396.
The Child Nutrition Department wishes everyone a safe and healthy summer and we look forward to serving all you again in the fall!

The grade reflecting the student's relative mastery of an assignment will be recorded. Please see your child's teacher if you have any concerns about low grades.
Re-teaching and Reassessment:
The intent of Humble Independent School District's re-teaching/re-assessment policy is to ensure that students have an opportunity to master the District's curricular objectives. Re-teaching in the District may be integrated into lessons during guided practice and may be a part of the explanation phase when checking for understanding is done. The teacher will determine when re-teaching should be scheduled. For critical skills, it will be done immediately; for recurring skills, it may be deferred.
Reassessing Groups:
An entire class or group will be re-taught and reassessed when the teachers determines that half or 50% or more of the class have failed to perform at mastery level (70%). The higher of the two grades shall be recorded in the grade book for each class member.
Reassessing Individuals:
After re-teaching, the teacher may use a variety of reassessment techniques to determine mastery. These techniques may include oral questioning, observation, retesting, demonstration, and additional assignment, or an alternative assignment. This applies to all forms of assessment. If a teacher chooses to retest individual to determine mastery an average of the two grades or the higher of the two grades shall be used in calculating the grade cycle average.
