About the Directors

Ms. Vaughn holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in Dance and Secondary Education from Sam Houston State University. Before graduating in 1998 she did her observation hours and student taught at Willis High School with the Sweetheart Dance Team. She then transitioned and accepted the position as the Director for the Willis Sweetheart Dance Team for 2 years. She then moved to Humble High School where she was the Director for the Wildcatdets from 2000-2007. With the growth of Humble ISD,  Kingwood Park was opened in 2007 where she was given the opportunity to create the dance team. Ms. Vaughn created the Silver Star Dance Team and with the help of her 22 Sophomores the traditions were created and the path was paved for a thriving dance team and dance program.

Ms. Vaughn was also involved in the creation of the San Jacinto Girl Scouts Green Starlette Dance Team. In 1994 she created a pilot program in the Sharpstown area where the group performed at various Girl Scout events. The program quickly became the largest interest group for the San Jacinto Girl Scouts with numerous divisions in the council.

Ms. Vaughn’s desire to serve also reaches out to the Texas Dance Educators' Association where she has been a member since 1996 and worked on various committees. She has served on the board for the last 12 years. She was Recording Secretary for 2 years, Corresponding Secretary for 2 years, 2nd Vice President over Exhibits for 3 years, 3rd Vice President-Director of the All-State Dance Team for 2 years, President Elect, President & Past President.  She continues to serve TDEA by Co-Chairing the Awards Committee. Serving on this board has been an honor and is something Ms. Vaughn truly enjoys. Ms. Vaughn was a Semi Finalist for Director of the year in 2007 and awarded the honor of Director of the Year in 2012.

Being a Dance Educator, Drill Team Director, and having the opportunity to change girls into young ladies is a true blessing to Ms. Vaughn. “Being a part of our organization is not only about developing great dancers and performances but strong leaders with a sense of responsibility to carry on a legacy.”

Mrs. Cox graduated from Kingwood Park High School in 2012. She was a member of the Silver Stars Drill Team where she was a Line Member her Sophomore Year, Captain her Junior Year and Colonel her Senior Year.

Her passion for dance led her to Stephen F. Austin State University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology. She was a member of the SFA Pom Squad for two years and taught at Venetia's Dance Studio for three years, where she was the Co-Coach for the Elementary Competition Team, the Head Coach for the Middle & High School Competition Team, and taught Recreational Dance Classes for ages 3-18.
