Humble ISD’s Portrait of a Graduate was initiated by the “Dream Team”, comprised of over 80 students, teachers, parents, and community members. Over the course of 2016-2017, this group collaborated to determine the contemporary skills a student graduating from Humble ISD should embody and exemplify. After seeking input through a survey from the entire school district and community, six Portrait of a Graduate competencies emerged: Global Citizen, Communicator, Personally Responsible, Creative Innovator, Leader & Collaborator, and Critical Thinker. The Humble ISD vision is that these competencies become a part of learning experiences for students from Pre-K through graduation so that students are truly college, career, and life ready.

Portrait of a Graduate Learning Progressions

What are POG Learning Progressions?

POG Learning Progressions are a set of vertically aligned learning targets that describe and specify skills and behaviors that exemplify Humble ISD’s Portrait of Graduate Competencies PreK-12.

There are 6 Learning Progressions for each grade band, one for each Portrait of a Graduate Competency.

  • Competency - the adopted characteristics of POG

  • Indicator - Defining components that add meaning to the competency

  • Learning Targets - Action Statements that outline what students will know and be able to do to show mastery of the competency
