Humble ISD invites families and community members to join in celebrating the grand opening of Pine Forest Elementary’s new “Treasure Island” themed playground. The dedication ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, at Pine Forest Elementary, located at 19702 West Lake Houston Parkway.
The event will feature performances by Pine Forest’s Panther Honor Choir, remarks from Principal Wendy Anaya, and reflections from second-grade students about what the new playground means to them. Spanish Immersion students will also share a poem reading in both English and Spanish.
Designed for children ages 5-12, the sea-inspired playground features a massive pirate ship, a giant octopus with climbing challenges and slides, as well as a sculpted treasure chest, log steppers, climbers, spinners, sensory panels, swings and playful sea creatures throughout.
The playground’s seamless, poured-in-place surfacing makes it accessible to children of all abilities, while enhancing the theme with elements such as sharks, squid, a “message in a bottle,” and a treasure island marked with an “X.”
This new playground marks the 19th installation in Humble ISD’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative and is the first unveiled during the 2025-2026 school year. The playground was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
Humble ISD elementary playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session.
