The High School State Visual Art Scholastic Event (State VASE) is the pinnacle event that celebrates the hard work and creativity of art students, teachers and administrators in Texas throughout the year.
This year, out of more than 35,000 entries, Humble ISD had one student receive Gold Seal and State Championship honors.
Atascocita High School’s Macey Hudson, the Class of 2025 Valedictorian, won with her paper quilling piece “Serenity in Motion”. Her teacher is Toni Goss.
The student and teacher were honored at the Humble ISD School Board Meeting for their accomplishments on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
State VASE begins with each of the 20 Regional Events scheduled during February. This year more than 35,000+ student artworks were entered in regional events. Of the 35,000+ student entries, only 350 artworks advanced to the state VASE competition. At the state VASE competition, 165 student artworks are chosen as Gold Seal and State Champions. That is less than 1% of the 35,000+ VASE entries for the 2024-2025 academic year.
