Policies and Procedures

Carpool Procedures

The following guidelines to be followed regarding arrival and dismissal doors. Please note that the Appalachian Trail driveway and entrance should only be used by Day Care and HISD bus transportation. All other students should use the Cafeteria doors on the east side of the school on Rock Springs. Teachers will be available to direct dismissal. Automobiles should circle through the driveway on Rock Springs and have their carpool sign displayed for the teachers on duty. Please stay in single file so children will not have to walk between cars. Students are not allowed to cross the street or walk through the parking lot without an adult escort.

Lost and Found

Please be sure to check the bin by the back door if your student is missing something. That is where we keep items that are looking for their owners.

Rainy Day Dismissal

In the event of Rainy Day Dismissal, all students will be held in the building until their car ride has arrived. We do not make the determination to hold students until 3:00 p.m. We make every effort NOT to change standard dismissal procedures. Be assured that our primary concern is the safety of our students. If conditions exist that may pose a threat to students' safety, school administrators may need to override family plans. Such conditions include, but are not limited to, lightning, hail, tornadic activity and extreme cold. In these instances, students will be held until the dangerous conditions have passed or parents have picked up their child(ren) from school.

The safest manner of student pick-up during inclement weather is the car rider line. We know it becomes long on these days but we encourage you to use that method. If you choose for your student to be a walker please go to the appropriate grade level hallway in the back of the building near the playground equipment.

Your child needs to be aware of how they will get home each day. Please make sure your child(ren) understand the specific directions you want them to observe. Each family should develop a bad weather plan for dismissal.  Any change to dismissal must be called into the front office and the message will be relayed to your student and their teacher. It is important that students, staff, and parents be prepared for all conditions.

We must be certain that children are released only to parents or authorized adults who are listed as emergency contacts. We appreciate your cooperation with these procedures to ensure the safety of all of our Hidden Hollow students.

School Safety

At Hidden Hollow we are always alert to possible safety concerns and strive to provide the safest environment for your student.

Although we welcome your visit to our lovely campus, we must ask that all those who visit beyond the front office register there and wear a visitor's badge while at Hidden Hollow. Please don't forget to bring your driver's license with you as you must have a valid license to enter the building. This includes visits to have lunch with your child on our campus.

Parents must make prior arrangements with the Principal when desiring to observe in the classrooms.

Forgotten items and non-emergency phone messages should be placed on the table in the foyer for classroom delivery at 10:00 each school day.

Procedures will be followed to protect the confidentiality of all students.

Bad weather and fire procedures are practiced on a regular basis.

You must list persons who may pick up your child from school in your absence in HAC. Please be sure that this information is accurate and current. We will not release your child to an unauthorized person under any circumstances.
